Wear This — Privacy Policy

Wear This analyses your natural colouring from a photo and tells you which colours suit you. This policy explains what it does with your data.

The short version: your photo is sent to one AI provider to produce your analysis and is not kept on our servers. Everything else stays on your device or in your own iCloud account. We do not sell your data, we do not advertise to you, and we do not use any third-party analytics.

What Wear This collects

Your photo. You choose a photo or take one. It is resized on your device and sent, over an encrypted connection, to our analysis service and from there to Anthropic's Claude API, which produces the analysis. Our service holds the photo in memory only for as long as that single request takes. It is never written to our storage, and the photo itself is never written to our logs.

Anthropic processes the image to generate your result. Their handling of API data is governed by their own terms and privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

Garment photos. When you check a garment, the photo you take is resized on your device and sent the same way, to our check service and from there to Anthropic's Claude API, along with your palette (the colour names and codes from your analysis), so the garment can be read against it. It is held in memory only for that one request, never written to our storage, and never written to our logs.

Your answers. Five multiple-choice answers about your natural hair colour, eye colour, how your skin responds to sun, your gold-versus-silver preference, and what brought you to the app. These are sent with your photo, for the same single request, and are not stored on our servers.

Your subscription identifier. An anonymous identifier generated by RevenueCat, our subscription provider, is sent with each analysis and each garment check so we can confirm you have an active subscription before running one. It is not linked to your name or email by us. RevenueCat's policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.

What stays on your device

• Your photo, saved in the app's private storage so it can be re-coloured without another analysis. It does not leave your device again.
• Your garment checks, the colour read and the verdict, in a local file. No images are kept, and this file is never uploaded.
• An unfinished analysis, briefly, so a paid analysis interrupted by a lock screen or a crash can be resumed. It is deleted as soon as the analysis finishes.

What syncs through your own iCloud

Your palette, meaning your season, the colours, and the written analysis, is stored in Apple's iCloud key-value storage under your Apple Account, so it follows you to your other devices. It is not readable by us. Your photo is not synced.

You can remove it by starting a new analysis, deleting the app, or clearing the app's iCloud data from your device settings.

Face data

A photo of your face is sensitive information. Wear This uses it only to read the colour of your skin, hair, and eyes for a colour analysis, and a garment photo only to read the garment against your palette. It is not used for facial recognition, not used to identify you, not used to build a profile, not used to train any model by us, and not shared with anyone other than the AI provider named above for the purpose of generating your own result.

What face data is collected. One photograph containing your face, taken with the camera or chosen from your photo library. Wear This does not create, store, or use a faceprint, face template, face mesh, face geometry, or any other biometric identifier, and it never attempts to recognise, match, or authenticate a person.

What happens on your device. Apple's Vision framework locates the rectangle of the largest face in the photo so the app can sample the average colour of a patch of skin, and Apple's person-instance mask produces a silhouette so colours can be draped behind you. Both run entirely on your device, both produce only a colour and a shape, and neither result is saved or transmitted.

How it is used. The photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our analysis service and from there to Anthropic's Claude API, which reads the colour of your skin, hair, and eyes and writes your colour analysis. It is used for nothing else: not facial recognition, not identification, not authentication, not profiling, not advertising, and not to train any model by us.

Where it is stored. Our analysis service runs on Supabase Edge Functions in the United States and holds the photo in memory only for the duration of that single request. It is never written to our database, our file storage, or our logs. The only lasting copy is in the app's private storage on your own device, so your result can be re-coloured without paying for a second analysis. That copy is not synced to iCloud and is not readable by us.

Who it is shared with. Only Anthropic, PBC, in the United States, which processes the image to generate your own result and does not use API inputs to train its models (anthropic.com/legal/privacy). It is shared with no other third party, sold to no one, and never disclosed to advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers. Your subscription identifier is sent to RevenueCat to confirm your subscription; no photo or face data is ever sent to RevenueCat.

How long it is retained. On our servers, for the length of one request and no longer — once the response is returned we hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Anthropic retains API inputs for a limited period under its own policy, for trust and safety purposes, and does not use them to train its models. On your device, the photo stays until you start a new analysis, delete the photo, or delete the app; any of those removes it. Garment photos are not retained anywhere, on our servers or on your device.

What Wear This does not do

• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
• No selling or sharing of personal information.
• No accounts, no email addresses, no passwords.

Children

Wear This is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Your rights

Because Wear This has no accounts and keeps no server-side copy of your photo or analysis, almost all of your data is under your direct control on your device. Deleting the app removes the local copies; clearing the app's iCloud data removes the synced palette.
